Top Gear’s Hammond and May try to make a Reliant Robin into a space shuttle, BBC Worldwide. … Reliant Robin cheap cars automobiles used prices Top Gear rocket space shuttle Richard Hammond trader stunts classic BBC
“not some yankee half mexican columbia rocket that explodes in the sky and takes 20 years to build”
Funny that you should say that, considering the rocket motors which were the sole power that lifted the Reliant shuttle were not only designed and built by “yankees”, they were made in Arizona, right next to Mexico.
They worked perfectly, too boot. Sadly, the same can’t be said about the British-made separation mechanism Better luck next time, huh?
nobody really cares about aloud of science crap. As long as its got a nice big bang were happy. And any way how long did it take to work all that thrust stuff out cause u wasted ur time cause no one cares!
Nah, it’s real except for the boom, though their descriptions of the components are dubious.
That is a real Reliant Robin. The solid fuel rockets on the side are just empty sheetmetal tubes, and most of the main “tank” is empty space. The “shuttle” was propelled by 6 72″ Contrail hybrid rockets (not liquid fuel), making about 2.9 thousand lbs. of thrust each.
The explosion at the end is from a previously recorded bomb test at the same location. Just a little TV magic
Topgear is watched by an estimated 350 million people worldwide. Selling off the rights means they’ve got a LOT of money to invest in the series. Aside from that the advertising during Top Gear will be a lot more expensive than other times and will rake in quite a penny as well.

but,this is fine too…..
this is fucking dangerous
lmao chill out man, this program is a joke. they are always ‘ambitious but rubbish’
i think the detonater for the second set of bolts failed either that or the explosive was a dud
Best use of taxpayer’s money i ever did see!
the liftoff was damn cool!!! too bad it crushed. really wanted it to work lol
If top gear can afford a small space program, I think we’re paying too much for the licence fee.
Best. Reliant Robin death. EVER.
